1. Product Description
Dulbecco modified medium-DMEM(Dulbecco's Modified Eagle Medium) is a widely used basal medium for a wide variety of mammalian cell cultures, including primary fibroblasts, neurons, glial cells, HUVECs, and smooth muscle cells, as well as cell lines such as HeLa,293,Cos-7, and PC-12. DMEM is developed on the basis of MEM medium. Compared with MEM medium, the content of amino acids increased by 2 times, vitamins increased by 4 times, and non essential amino acids, trace iron ions and sodium pyruvate were also increased.
DMEM medium was originally designed as a low-glucose type with a glucose content of 1000mg/L, and later developed a high-glucose type with a glucose content of 4500mg/L, which has been widely used in the culture of various cells. The high glycoform of DMEM is widely used in fast-growing, low-adherent cells, hybridoma myeloma cells, clonal cells, DNA-transfected transformed cells, primary viral host cells, single cell culture, and vaccine production, such as EPO expression using CHO cells and production of hepatitis B vaccine.
Sodium pyruvate can be used as an alternative carbon source in cell culture, and cells can also metabolize sodium pyruvate in the presence of glucose deficiency. The medium without sodium pyruvate can adjust the content of sodium pyruvate according to the research needs to control the carbon source of cell metabolism.
